Great surfing movie! I loved the plot and you cannot tell when will happen next. As a cognitive neuroscientist, I also loved how past experiences have such a strong effect on the present. Watch the movie and you will see. If you like Blue Crush, which is also great. Blue Crush 2 is totally different, but equally as unique and great. I loved the filming and storyline. Great ending as well! As a surfer in so Cali, surf on!

I started an account here, to leave needed ~ to the point ~ honest reviews...this is my 1st... As far as a Surf Movie for entertainment goes ~ this is one of the best! ~ Honestly! Watch it and enjoy! A California girl does a Surfari in S.Africa with a native...from Durban down to JBay...EPIC! For a HOLLYWOOD surf film - it's a 10! I also need to mention that it has depth, and addresses a couple of issues, that are missing from most other surf movies, it also has a nice light-heartedness and a good mix and amount of humor. P.S. It's the perfect surf movie to watch with the wife! Also, IMHO, this one is much better than the 1st one, and the sub-plot of a girl's competition is less of a focus in this one!

I'm not much into made up movies, it was a happy end one, but since Icame to watch it more than once I concider it great. It's oldschool and have a great plot and summer vibes. A human story told in a great way. Love it!

You've got a bunch of barely out of high school kids living the life out in Africa. A surfer movie, which still tries to put in a bit of crime solving, a bit of a road trip, a bit of a love triangle and a bit of family drama. The acting in many parts was pretty mediocre, only a few highlights in there. Especially one scene where the father argues with the daughter sounds so rehearsed it's just ends up feeling weird. Another one was the in a tryout for a sponsorship contract in which the commentators sounded so bored you wondered if they hadn't been given their dose of Red Bull. The only thing this movie is consistent about is the use of music in almost every scene. There is no surprise in how the movie plays out, but on the other hand I guess it doesn't really try to be anything other than what it is: a feel good surfer movie. If you're into surfing you'll have loads of scenery to watch, and probably also get quite a bit of inspiration out of the waves. Others may just as well come up with something else to watch.

Dana (Sasha Jackson) is a rich California girl. Her father is pushing her to settle down but she is restless to follow her surfer mother's footsteps back to her home country of South Africa. She surfs the waves and takes the same Polaroids as her mother. She befriends a black surfer named Pushy (Elizabeth Mathis). She is confronted by alpha dog Tara. There is a community of surfers who is squatting on the beach. Tim is a nice photographer. Grant is the charming surfer but he could be bad news. While chasing down her mother's stuff that was stolen, Dana and Pushy discover something darker. This is more or less a TV movie that is vastly inferior to the original. The original's cast has charisma and spunk. Sasha Jackson is a really pretty girl but she is mostly a Polaroid copy. Going to South Africa has some potential but mostly it is indistinguishable from countless other beach movies. There is plenty of pretty people on the beach and surfing. Then it tries to add some tough drama but it plays more like an after-school special. Even the surfing doesn't seem as exciting. The drama feels manufactured, the thrills are light and the actors don't stick.

This appears to be a direct-to-video movie release. It was shot on a small budget and on a short schedule and using mostly unknown actors. You get what you pay for. Still, we enjoyed it for the fluff of a diversion, with some cute girls in surfing mode. For me the biggest surprise and the most interest is British actress, trained in Hollywood and with a good American accent, Sasha Jackson as Dana. This is Dana's story. She is 18 and not ready to fulfill her wealthy father's dream of her college education. Dana's mother, a surfer girl originally from Soith Africa, died of cancer when Dana was only 5. Her memories of mom are mostly from the photos she has. She yearns for more. When dad is on a business trip, and Dana at 18 is an adult and apparently has full access to their wealth, leaves a note that she is headed to South Africa. As the story unfolds we learn that she wants to visit the places her mom knew, and surf the same waves. A southern California girl, Dana is an accomplished surfer. Sasha Jackson brings a fresh face and a ready smile to the screen. Her acting is a cut above the others and I can only hope she gets better roles. I read her biography on IMDb and she apparently was a high level diver and trampolinist in England, and learned to surf for this role. She is the best reason to see Blue Crush 2. Her journey is NOT without surprises. The first is when she hits the first beach, putting her backpack into a beach locker, only to find it broken into and items stolen. She makes friends with a girl named "Pushy" and also with a couple of guys. She ends up living temporarily with a group, a "family" of sorts, of beach bums. But for a low budget it has a nice look to it. Elizabeth Mathis is the new friend, Pushy. Ben Milliken is the new friend with the old bus for a home, Tim. Australian Sharni Vinson is the bitchy primadonna surfer Tara. (But she does soften up at the end.) SPOILERS: Dana's dad hops on a plane and eventually looks her up at the final beach of her journey. They make up, and it seems that Dana is ready to put her mom's death behind her and get on with life.

Obviously I haven't watched the original 2002 Blue Crush but I don't wanna compare anyway because then this one would be under the shadow as I am seeing in these reviews. I enjoyed the movie not only because Pushy's Zulu name is Nokuthula(which she couldn't pronounce very well by the way) but also because as the first surfing movie I've seen, it was a great experience. I am tired of all those cheer leading movies and football and all other common sports. It was nice to see something different for a change. I must say I liked the combination of race(specifically imitating African black as opposed to any black race). The flexibility of Dana's character kept the storyline nice because I expected her to rent a hotel or something but she settled nicely in those shacks getting along with those poor pple. It was interesting for me. Thanx.

Blue Crush 2 tried to show the hard life of a surfer girl. The new approach of showing the hard life of a rich girl instead of a poor Hawaiian who just wanted to make it big, like they did in Blue Crush 1, wasn't a big thing for many people. The acting was good enough to keep you involved in the movie but the only thing that could have been better was the accents of the characters. Sasha Jackson constantly had her original dialect slip in the movie, which made it noticeable because she was playing the American surfer girl Dana. Elizabeth Mathis and Gideon Emery had convincing parts as Pushy and Dana's father and the characters of Tim, Tara, and Grant completed the story well. The acting of Sasha Jackson was OK but if they really wanted her as the rule they should of changed the storyline cause her accent sucked in the movie. The big plus was that the main actors/actress did do a decent part of their surfing. All in all the movie wasn't that bad, and in fact I bought it on DVD because I love when a low budget film does a good job of showing the storyline

"Blue Crush 2" is the sequel of "Blue Crush" and this one has to do with a girl who is haunted by the memory of her deceased mother and she goes to South Africa to fulfill her mother's dream of surfing in Jefferys Bay (J-Bay). I did not like this movie as much as the first and I think that this movie is a repeat of the first because and in the first movie we had a girl who was haunted by her own daemons and she was trying so hard to get rid from them and fulfill her own dream (this is a difference). Finally I think that this movie It's not as good as the first one I believe that the only interpretation that was good was Sasha Jackson's who played as Dana.

I wasn't expecting much for this movie; however, as I watched my expectations lowered very quickly. The acting is sub-par, as is the plot in general. The plot is not very complex; although by seeing the commercial for this film that secret is already blown off. It seemed as if the directors just plucked outgoing teenagers from the region where they were supposed to be from, shoved them into bikinis, gave them a script, and then recorded. The most frustrating quality of this movie is the volume. It frequently fluctuated from a soft whisper to an extremely loud burst of sound. Around every 2-3 minutes I had to adjust the volume. Hardly any redeeming qualities. I turned it off after about 60 minutes. Did not like this movie.
