I am a Saw fan. I want to make this statement clear before I make the following rant about Saw 3D. What started off 7 years ago by Whannel and Wan has been ruined by the new writers. The world of Jigsaw has been diluted by the new writers to a very poor slasher film of utter nonsense. If the writer's ideas run thin they just make another victim an accomplice. Shame on you Melton and Dunton - lazy writing. No film after Saw 3 makes sense to the series, although Saw 6 is watch-able as a standalone film. Despite my average feelings for 4 and my detest of 5, there is such a wealth of characters and back story that could have been used to make the final Saw epic. Instead we have been introduced to more new characters and over elaborate traps. (Really who is building these things and how much money and time do they have? More secret hide outs etc). One of the traps is a pop up machine gun! For Christ sake what were the writers thinking! The script is so bad that characters are even dreaming about traps. I am embarrassed for you Melton and Dunston. The original Saw was simplistic in it's brilliance, but had the gore of a horror movie and the tension of a thriller. This is what made it great. Even Saw 2 (which is not my favourite) and Saw 3 (possibly my favourite)continued this tradition with clever but simple traps and involving stories that were character driven. Fans cared about what happened to the victims, we cared for the anti- hero Jigsaw and we sympathised with the accomplice Amanda - whilst being disgusted and questioning our own morals. Unfortunately since Saw 4 we no longer care about any of the new characters or the plot. We just have a body count as the writers think this is what horror film are about. Saw was more than this. And now given the chance to put some closure to the series you misused the chance to correct your earlier work and made it even worse by wasting the screen time of Tobin and Cary. I wish I stopped viewing at Saw 3 as the remainder of the series has cashed in on what would have been an excellent trilogy.

In the midst of all the 3D action, Saw producers thought this would be the best opportunity to cash in for the franchise. However, movie goers will all be disappointed (especially if you've seen the trailers) with this "state-of-the-art 3D" film. Saw VII revolves around Bobby Dagan, an apparent Jigsaw survivor. But, after about twenty minutes of pointless story, Bobby is put into a real trap and we as an audience find out he's nothing but a liar. Meanwhile, Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes) returns and surprise-surprise is also an accomplice to Jigsaw. He's responsible for all the happenings since he survived his trap in the original film. What's wrong with this picture? A doctor, devoted to saving lives, has decided to become a serial killer? So, what Saw does is take a cop and a doctor and turn them both evil. How imaginative! What sucks about this most of all, is this has been discussed for the last six years from the IMDb message boards and the House of Jigsaw forums. What the writers have done was just use these idiotic ideas. Besides the pointless 3D elements, Saw fails on all accounts because it destroys several characters, the overall timeline of Saw, and important plot elements about the Saw universe. It's annoying to have heard people say, "the guy who did surgery on Michael in Saw II was Dr. Gordon," then have to see that the writers put that in the final film. I was an avid fan of Saw up until the announcement of Dr. Gordon returning. It sounded so inane to say that he's been working behind the scenes the whole time. He's a doctor. He was screwed over, had to cut off his foot and lost his entire family in one night. But, he forgives Jigsaw and wants to help him kill other people. Makes sense? How stupid! If he was helping, why didn't he show up in any previous flashbacks? Where was he the last two years (Saw-Saw VII is at least a 2 year time difference)?? I thought Saw VII was a good final chapter up until Hoffman was halted by an unknown person in a pig mask, who was revealed to be Dr. Gordon and then the usual Saw flashback brought all the issues (unanswered) to light. I couldn't be more appalled by this film. Don't forget, this is quite possible the worst acted Saw film of all time. Minimal Tobin Bell screen time, without counting his Jigsaw voice on the tapes, and lesser-known actors trying to be established as prominent actors. Without substance in the story or any of the new characters, this Saw has no real plot line to follow or development to undergo. It will be dubbed "one of the worst horror films of all time" for me. I'm very displeased with the producers, writers, and actors. Basically everyone involved in this franchise is no longer someone I like anymore. This includes the fans who thought up the Gordon theories and actually managed to have the writers/producers think they were good ideas. Not recommended.

Just like all the rest of the cinematic open sores that preceded it in this series.

It's what you expect. There is no shock factor. Die hard fans that know every little thing about the movie will see this ending coming. I think they should have taken more time to plan out the games and come up with a larger shock. It seemed forced but maybe my expectations were too high for what the final project should have been in my mind. The 3D factor was fun but it seemed that the movie was revolving around the 3D concept more than the story line. Finally it was way too short, it felt like they were already dragging out what they did have. I believe the writers were just in a hurry to tie up all the loose ends, but then again, many liked the "Final Chapter". I Love "Saw" and I always will but by far, this is the worst one.

Let me say this the saw movies hold a special place in my heart. The first saw was the first movie my husband and I saw together before we started dating. The opening of the first trap was so intense. You didn't know how it would end, but I found myself clapping for the guys. I understand some people would think thats harsh but come on she had it coming. I'm also really glad to see that the director from the last movie also directed this one he tied it all together. There is a lot of hidden stuff to look for. For example look at the evidence room you can see some of the most famous traps form past movies. The traps,the plot and the end was a true ending to a movie. I found myself leaving the theater a little sad but this is one of those movies that will be in the horror hall of fame!!!!!
