Sure, one of my guilty pleasures from my childhood is the first feature length movie starring Elvira, Mistress of the Dark – also the title. I must've watched that 24x and laughed when I was a child. I kept thinking, if I were to watch that today, it might be as bad as 'My Name is Bruce.' Then, I think, not many movies EVER MADE are as bad as 'Bruce.' That has to rank in my top 10-15 worst EVER made. Sure, I get where it's coming from, who Bruce Campbell is, what movies he's made, what kind of humor he gives off in his B-movies. I get it all, I'm not stupid. And I've seen plenty of horror-spoofs, self-absorbed spoofs, actor-spoofing themselves to know this one was pure crap. Egomaniac and arrogant (if this was the true life Bruce, and he was scheduled for a fourth cameo in Spider-Man 4 – I vow not to see that film, although after the disappointing Spidey3) Campbell, playing himself, is called into action after a fan lives in a small town with a Chinese cursed history, blah blah, he learns to be a hero, yada yada, you get the drift. Even when this movie is supposed to spoof all B-Movies, namely Bruce's own, it's just as bad and predictable as the rest. Every joke falls flat (my jaw dropped at each one – sure I get the humor, I'm not deaf, I just wish I was five years old again to enjoy it,) and mixed in with blatant, incredibly unfunny and already outdated homophobic humor. And as a life-long Superman fan, I was thoroughly disappointed in no 'Lois & Clark' references as he was a big part of season 3. Aside from 2 small jokes, please stay far away from this self-absorbent crap.

From my summary it is obvious that i feel let down by this movie and by it,s creator Bruce Campbell.Lack of money can be blamed for many things such as bad effects,bad acting and bad props,but there is no excuse for such a poor script. The fact that in the spoof sci fi movie he is doing Bruce acts better than he does in the rest of the movie shows what a pile of horse droppings this film is.As a Bruce Campbell fan who has liked the majority of his work from Evil Dead to Xena,i have to say he has let his fans down with poor poor effort. If he has made half has much money has i suspect from this movie from DVD sales,and has half as much integrity as i hope he has he will plow the money into another much better movie that will deserve to have his name in the title.

Maybe it was the expectations that killed it for me, after all, I have been waiting for a full year to see it, but I did not think it was terribly funny. The plot centers around Bruce Campbell and his failed life: busted marriage, bad movies, career plummeting and, above all, being a complete jerk. He makes fun of all these points which is funny at the beginning, but then you realize that they hit too close to home. The movie IS bad, the effects ARE cheesy, he continues to be a jerk that one can't relate to much, the jokes get worse and worse and in the end, the grand finale is pretty lame. Bottom line: If you are a die hard fan of Campbell, you will probably "get it", but I really doubt many people will be amused by the movie.

This movie, without a doubt, ROCKED! This is gotta be Mr. Bruce Campbell's best movie he directed. So many inside jokes only a die-hard Campbell would understand the humor. As for the non die-hard fans, they'll also would get a kick out of this movie too in my opinion. It is too hard, almost impossible, to remove your smile off your face while watching this hilarious flick! Bruce Campbell, a pioneer of B-movies, has been gone to the lowest of lows being in horrible straight-to-DVD flicks like Cave Alien and Cave Alien 2. He lives alone in his gross trailer with is dog, Samandrob, and has bottles of alcohol for his meals. Until one night, in a small redneck town name Goldlick, a group of teenagers accidentally unleashed a Chinese demon named Guan-De. They're only hope for survival is they need a hero. But who? You guessed it! Bruce Campbell! As I said before, This movie kicks-ass and hilarious throughout! You will, laugh, laugh, and laugh! Bruce Campbell is a pure genius making a film like this! I can't wait for the DVD release! Oh yeah...The reason why this is second-best movie of 2008, because The Dark Knight is 2008's best movie in my opinion. But which movie will you think I'll be watching more when it comes to DVD????

My Name Is Bruce sucks. Absolutely sucks beyond anything I could have imagined. He was o.k. in the Evil Dead. But this is about as far away from "O.K." as you can get. I've seen movies made by elementary school kids better than this. Absolutely no effort went into making this low-grade sh*t pile. NONE. The Chinese monster was terrible. No effort in making it believable. The storyline terrible: he gets a bat to the head, knocked unconscious, driven in a trunk to a town where somehow all of the people think this shitty actor can save them because a teenage goth says so and thinks it's all a birthday gift? What? Yeah, I know it's a comedy, but still, it's not funny. If they would have spent 15 minutes working on the script, it would have been better than this. This piece of crap was probably made within one week. And who directed it? Bruce Campbell. So obviously he doesn't care about who watches this disaster or what his "fans" think of him, or else he would have spent some time on the details. Plus, he is now going to be known as a horrible director. Who the hell would go see a movie "directed by Bruce Campbell" after watching this waste of time? I don't know exactly who these Bruce Cambell fans are that gave this thing a good review but it doesn't seem possible that anyone would ever do that. Maybe Bruce Campbell spends all night on the internet writing them himself.

I was lucky enough to catch My Name is Bruce on Bruce Campbell's city tour over the weekend. This is a phenomenal B-movie directed by Bruce Campbell. Hopefully, he decides to continue along this route and direct more. Bruce Campbell fans will instantly pick up on all the past movie references starring BC and even if you are a new BC fan you should go out and see this film. The film had the entire audience laughing til it hurt throughout. Bruce Campbell takes on the Chinese God of Bean Curd, Quan-Di, in an epic battle of good versus evil with Ted Raimi appearing as multiple characters. The acting is pretty good throughout and the jokes will leave you rolling in the aisle. Do yourself a favor and see this movie if it comes to a theatre near you!

When you've been famous on the Internet for over a week, as I have, you run the risk of getting recognized in public. To escape this fate, I employ little tricks to slip under the radar. Tricks such as: not putting a picture of myself on my website, paying for everything with cash, avoiding jury duty, and stealing cookware from Sears when I ran out of cash last weekend. Alas, I was still recognized. I was at the Department of Motor Vehicles, where I go every six months to update the photograph on my driver's license. I had an arrangement with the lady behind the counter that when my license was ready, instead of calling my name, she would call once like a Wood Owl and thrice like a Sagehen, and then wink across the room at me. Yet, when it was time, she bellowed "Tom Thayer," loud and clear as day. She was probably taking revenge on me for calling her chunky. I accepted my license, and as I turned to leave the DMV, my path to freedom was blocked by a chunky man with black hair. The man inquired about my name, and about the website. "Actually," I told him, "It's pronounced 'Guy Who Reviews Movies.' And yes, that's me." "Wow, this is incredible. Everyone in the industry loves you." "And what industry would that be?" I silently prayed for garment industry. "Uhh... film." Damn. Maybe next time. I don't like wasting time, especially if the chances that our interaction will yield insider deals on garments are slim to none. I made up an excuse to leave. "I have to leave because... I need to get... a new... hamburger?" I'm not very good at making up excuses. "Wait. My name is Bruce Campbell." He paused, as if he expected me to recognize his name. Maybe we had met at a party. I talk to a lot of people at parties, mostly to solicit loans. I find that people are more willing to give you loans at a party. Maybe he was coming to collect on a loan. "I'm sorry, I don't have money..." Once again, he appeared confused. "I'm an actor and director." "Uh huh." "I'd love it for you to see an advance screening of my new movie, My Name is Bruce." I quickly agreed, desperate to get out of there, as I suddenly found myself craving hamburgers. I regretted my decision later that week, when I found myself sitting in the theatre, wondering what kind of megalomaniac names a movie after himself. "My Name is Bruce" is the story of a sad, black-haired, chunky man, and his dark-haired chunky friends, and their misadventures in the modern world. That lady from the DMV was also in it, as one of the chunky friends. In fact, I think the entire movie was actually shot at the DMV. The production value was practically non-existent. Like his autobiography, "If Chins Could Kill", his career started off entertaining and went downhill. I can not fathom why anyone would want to watch something like this. There was almost no effort put into this "film". In interviews he would joke about "getting the paycheck". Apparently, he wasn't joking. It's the only, and I mean ONLY, reason to smear this turd onto a reel. This may be the first "C" movie ever made. I'd rather listen to the two homeless guys I saw the other day discussing politics than finish watching this lobotomy on film. Other than that, I thought it was great.
