Indian pacer Mohammed Shami appeared before election officials in Kolkata on Tuesday as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise of the electoral rolls in West Bengal, after discrepancies were found in the enumeration form submitted in his name. Shami, who presented the required documents at a school in south Kolkata’s Bikramgarh area, was summoned by the Election Commission following irregularities flagged during verification. Though originally from Uttar Pradesh, the senior fast bowler has been residing in Kolkata for several years because of his cricketing career and is registered as a voter in ward number 93 under the Rashbehari assembly constituency.
