Using examples from Superlek vs Rodtang, Petchmorakot vs Yodsanklai and Seksan, we explore how the smaller ONE Championship gloves change the relationship between striking and grappling. The fingerless gloves make it easier to manipulate an opponent's hands and arms at punching range, but can also make sustained control more difficult once the fight moves into the clinch. We also look at how Superlek used hand fighting to slow Rodtang's pressure, how Seksan uses hand control as part of his aggressive combinations, and how the same tactics can be used against pressure fighters to prevent them from building momentum.
