"Black Bits," directed by Alessio Liguori, promises an engaging adventure within a sci-fi thriller that mixes elements of horror and action movies. However, the final outcome proves to be disappointing, leaving the viewer with a sense of dissatisfaction and lack of engagement. The film opens with an intriguing premise: two women, Beth and Dora, meet casually in a bar and end up pulling off a heist against a mysterious Dark Web society, obtaining valuable next-generation neurochips. However, the screenplay choices appear rushed, and the editing does not always support the narrative, lacking depth in character development. The plot tries to create an atmosphere of tension and mystery, with continuous flashbacks recalling the protagonists' first encounter in the bar. However, the narrative thread gets lost in a series of clichés and predictable situations, depriving the film of the freshness and originality one would expect from a thriller of this kind. One of the weaknesses of the film lies in the characterization of the characters, who appear two-dimensional and underdeveloped. The two protagonists, despite their potential, fail to convey to the audience the sense of empathy and involvement necessary to make the story compelling.
