Only saw a trailer and already dont want to watch it. Exact remake and trying with every character and bird to recreate an original. The 2000 movie was funny and original and good. This already seemed awful. The acting is typical nickelodeon and the writing has no imagination. Why not make a sequel.of the original? Then you had a good start and something to build on. Why cant they make these young actors act? They all do the same bad acting. The writing these days is non imaginative. The directing and producing is always awful with these kind of movies. They are all the same bad quality. Be original and be better.

So initially I don't really like that remakes don't create a new story. Remakes take something old and makes it relevant for today. They however use the same plots. This works for kids today as they can relate to the story. Remakes are really not a reboot, but an opportunity to add elements that didn't exist at the time of the original. Remakes have been happening for some time. Like "The Little Rascals," originally made in the '50s. Yet it was remade in the '90s and as a kid born in '85 I had no clue it was a remake. My first reaction to this film was changed after I started watching it. Movies like "Cheaper by the Dozen," "Parent Trap," and "King Kong" had good reception when they were remade. Sure creative minds should create something new, but there is good cause in remakes.

Cheaply produced in every way. Poorly acted, but also poorly written, flat, meaningless. Also full of nonsense. Nothing makes sense. There's not nearly enough snow on the ground. Like, all the streets are obviously already plowed. And the city has one snowplow? And... it takes all day. Once a snow day is declared, that's it. Maybe if the GOAL had been to have a second one all along, that would be the goal of the plow stopping kids. Oh, at least the plow driver commits several major crimes. Actively kidnaps children (picks them up, locks them in his plow cab for hours), most notably. Seems improbable the apparent tween target would like it, since it's so transparently bad but man there's a lot of time spent on extremely stupid tween romance plots, enough it almost bored even the smaller kids who did watch it.

Cons 1. The characters' writing is the most childish I've ever heard 2. Even the writing is childish and horrendous 3. This movie is trying to be like the Disney Channel movies so much (because the musicals mostly) 4. This movie doesn't need to be a musical, even when they do, it is so average and I wish they did something unique with this 5. Some of the characters are so unlikable 6. It barely has any faithfulness to the original source material 7. Musical numbers happen around 5 minutes after the last one 8. Sometimes, the tone of the musicals does not match to the character's situation 9. The plot feels so forced 10. THE CHARACTERS WOULDN'T SHUT UP 11. SOME of the acting is really great but got wasted since their writing wasn't funny 12. The comedy is not funny mostly (but there are some I liked) and has some gross out humor (ex. Mom's toenails part and grandma's bra part) 13. The pacing is bad, not worse bad, just bad (the plot kicks in around 24 minutes in for an 1h and 17m movie) 14. So much stereotypical characters 15. It also has pop culture references (Kids would definitely know who is Johnny Deep is) 16. This movie is forgettable and boring Pros 1. I liked Hal's relationships though 2. At least the plot wasn't tropey (was it? I really don't know) Yeah there are barely any pros because this movie sucks. I recommend this for your 10 year olds to watch because it is so childish. I had to endure this movie for an hour. For you, the critics, don't watch this movie and instead make your young children watch it.

Snow Day is more of a retelling than a remake IMO. It is very light hearted and right in line with other Nickelodeon productions. Sure it's absolutely aimed at a younger audience where the 2000 version that is commonly being used as it's litmus test had a bit more adult oriented humor, with actors that were known for adult humor. I watched Snow Day with my family and really enjoyed the story. Sure, life is way more involved when you are an adult but when you were a kid, a Snow Day was an unplanned "Get out of jail free" card when routine and responsibility got tossed out the window. Who better to enjoy a story based on that than the generation who still hopes for them every winter. (Or by your inner child remembering trading books and tests for a big hill and a sled!) I thought the casting was great, the acting was fun, and the musicals that were peppered throughout the movie were right in theme. Except for the fact that now I am overly critical of pancakes for some reason, the only thing I got from this movie was a smile. Take off your adulting hat before watching and enjoy this with the family.

This appears to be a remake of Snow Day. It was cute however the original is definitely superior. This was more of a musical which was interesting as I love musicals. It was not a total bust however it is definitely something that will either be for you or not. The acting wasn't horrible, however you can tell it wasn't the best. There were parts that were a little awkward bit but cute film to check out if interested! This is a film featuring a group of kids hopeful for a snow day, and they try to do anything they can to ensure that happens. The story focuses on a set of siblings, and their wish for a snow day.

I grew up in snow. The conditions shown in this move come nowhere close to those required for a "snow day". There was barely an inch or two of snow on the ground, and no snow was falling whatsoever. A real snow day involved at least an 8 inch accumulation and white-out blizzard conditions. A snow day is only called when the conditions are life-threatening. I went to school all the time in conditions far worse than those shown in this movie. And what parent doesn't know how to pick a set of toy handcuffs? Also, the girl waiting on the ice for the boy to show up, what happened to her skates? She was wearing skates when he showed up, then is suddenly dancing in ordinary boots. Where is the continuity officer on the set? (The city has ONE snowplow? Hardly.)
