This movie is both scary and entertaining, it won't leave you bored for a second. Action starts from the first minute of the prologue. Then the movie seems to starts quite friendly but because of the prologue you're constantly on the watch out for danger. The group of friends who are the main personages is a nice variety of different characters and it's also nice to see how they develop during the movie, well done. The moments in the cabin are really scary and also there are some surprises coming up about the relationships between everyone. Ultimately leading to an epic finale in which the last survivors plan an extreme move to finish the animal and attempt to escape. The end also got an interesting surprise... I really enjoyed watching Animal and would love to see a sequel!

Let me know if you have heard about this plot about 1,000 times before. Backwoods, middle of nowhere, cabin with windows all blocked up, meanie outside. Why can't there be something more original? I didn't find the acting bad, I didn't find the editing bad, but the plot stunk more than a rotting corpse. Perhaps the director and producers thought this was an original take on an old theme, "updated". But no, there is nothing original here and nothing so good as to qualify for wasting 90 minutes of your life. Google a cooking recipe. The anxiety over producing a great scrambled eggs will far exceed this movies' ability to produce any dread in you. Avoid it. And that's my opinion...

After having just watched the movie I was astounded when i saw the low score on IMDb. This movie is not your average "scary monster hunts and eats people". Don't miss this one! The characters although not really in-depth are likable/obnoxious (where applicable), and play their individual parts really well. The monster itself is awesome, scary, and very believable. The special effects are slightly above par and very convincing. The story flows nicely, keeps up the pace, and has a tense atmosphere. If you are looking for a fun-filled, gory monster movie this is the one for you! The story packs a punch and kept me enthralled the whole way through. Having seen my fair share of monster movies i am giving this 8/10!

I don't care what credential the movie has in terms of the production companies and directors gone into making it, but this movie was bad. SO crap that when i came on IMDb and saw that some people were rating this movie 9/10 10/10 and so on i had to make an account and rate it myself. I love horrors/thrillers, i've seen em all ranging from Hostel to SAWs to Quarantine to even The conjuring. But Animal is really just a bunch of crap. I think i'm being generous with 1/10 to be honest. The script to this movie was so cliché it made me angry to an extent, and in the bits where it wasn't cliché it was just plain stupid. Spoiler alert, but i must give examples. The main guy of the film, least stupid out of all of em tried to take on one of the animals one by one and gets himself killed just to save another guy who might survive after getting mauled by the beast prior. The guy who got saved ends up getting killed 5 minutes later to be used as "bait". Running away from the animal, one of the two girls trip over and they spend a whole lifetime there one trying to tell the other to get up and to keep going. Just an annoying script really. Horrid movie, highly do not recommend.

It's not that it is really bad, it's that it is a cliché from start to end. You've got the group of young people in the woods, all the archetypes in: manly guy, gay guy, black girl, smart person, bitchy person, insane person, etc, their characters barely sketched. And then a nondescript monster, bipedal, bald head, with really long and probably ineffectual teeth, a mane!, nobody bothering to even explain where it came from. And then it starts, the story I mean. Only there is no story. They all act like it's "just an animal" so their solution is not to trap it and kill it, instead to just go out and try to "run for it". Their only displays of courage is when they have to fight each other. Bottom line: the same movie, the same lame effects, the same script, the same bad actors. You've seen it before unless you are really young. And then you should watch something better, just because there are so many better genre films. The only possible reason one would watch this is to see Eve (yeah, the singer) being killed in the beginning of the film.

I love this movie very much I'm really an Animal fan now!!! It's a scary and thrilling story about a group of friends who go hiking at a place two of them (stepbrother and sister) used to camp when they were younger. They found the forest to be getting destroyed. Therefore there's a warning about animals coming out there hiding places being forced to by the destruction of their habitat. Now, let this be a fair warning to all of us who destroy the last of earth's forests because the animal that comes out is the most scary animal you've ever seen. It's smart enough to know how to trap people and also is very hungry... The movie is really scary I was on the edge of my chair the whole time. The sound effects are very good making it even scarier. The end of the movie is the best for it is the most scary part but also gives a huge surprise!

I get the movie was Cheesy, but that is what was expected. This is a B movie (which I love).I myself liked this film a lot. I will admit that some people cannot act in the film but overall they all did a good job. I thought the suspense was pretty good and the last 10 minutes of the movie was lots of fun. Overall I love all the Characters in the movie. Especially Elizabeth Gillies being my favorite and Keke Palmer second. Only advice I can give is don't go in with high expectations. Horror flicks aren't what they use to be. But I loved it! So I'm sure some of you will as well.

This coming from one who quite hated Feast: had budget, potential, managed to pick some good actors, but the execution there was laughable in a very bad way. So why is this one even worse? Well it does create the impression that the crew will stick together, the acting will try to be at least average, but the script doesn't allow much beyond it. It is a used idea, badly executed, looking like a cheap movie instead of being a solid B horror. The perfect dumb decisions taken throughout the movie, the characters not smart enough to survive, the "natural" reactions coming from the situation, the night that is not dark enough to cover the movie and make it easier on us. Animal is a bad movie in the end, sorry to say so, but you won't find nothing new here. To be honest, I once saw a movie "Grizzly Park" that I found to be so much better than Animal. You get a few laughs at that one and a ending that kinda makes it worth while. This one tho, a total time waster, minutes you will want back. Try something else, you will do better easily!

I went into this film expecting very little, and that's what I got back. Do not get me wrong, I'm not one of those movie goers hating on horror, or low budget films. I love them both, but this film, there's no love. I was bored! The acting was bad, and not in a campy way. The attempts to create any tension were tedious and insulting. The story line was a rip from numerous horror films before hand (Night of the living dead, Feast, Dog Soldiers etc). I will give the film Kudo's for it's practical effects, whilst the creature resembled beasts like Feast, Raw Head Rex, Pumpkin head and The Secret of Nihm. It wasn't CGI, thankfully. I can't help but feel that Drew Barrymores involvement was intended to create another cult horror flick such as Matt Damons, Ben Afflecks and Wes Cravens produced film Feast (2005). It fails, it lacks the creative direction. Though it had all the correct ingredients, it just felt under prepared, and then over cooked. I didn't hate this film, but I rolled my eyes, and asked why so many times! It's a no brainer, if you want to waste 90 minutes then watch. If you don't, then watch one of the films it was trying to be, simple.
